My wise mom has always taught me to do things in groups of three, five, or odd numbers, whether it’s landscaping, filling a vase with fresh flowers, or placing photos around the house. I’d have to agree with her rule of thumb, home decor (and landscaping) look way better in three’s or odd numbers. With Spring here and warm weather ahead, I love to mix and match new furnishings with my existing favorites – some that I’ve had for years and years. It’s sort of a mixture of fond memories and excited anticipation of something new and fresh every time you look around your home. That’s the fun of decorating, right?!
To add some some light and color to my entryway table, I used a round marble and gold accent tray and adorned it with a crystal vase filled with cream, peach, and hot pink roses and greenery, a pretty candle that smells like peonies (here is a similar item), and a small, scalloped and monogrammed jewelry dish (mine was a gift but a similar item can be found here). The great thing about adding a tray is that it brings organization and structure to any table. Adding elements like your favorite scented candle and a monogrammed dish or catchall not only bring a personal touch to your home style but are also functional. In addition to following my mom’s advice I also used elements and textures of varying heights, which aesthetically completes the space!
My mom’s odd number decorating tip always helps me when I’m reorganizing and rearranging my home decor and I hope it will help you too!
